Pomegranate Star Quilt

Below is a page from "Beautiful Home" magazine. Isn't that quilt phenomenal! Just kidding (about the magazine part), this is the home of my blogless (as far as I know - Janice, you should really start a blog!) friend Janice. If it graced the pages of a magazine, ladies all around the country would be racing to copy her style.

The quilt, which you have to admit is truly phenomenal, is the first (as far as I know) fully completed quilt from the Round Robin group I participated in last year. Below is a photo of the quilt. I'd say we dun good!

Janice created the center star on the white background, and provided some fabrics to carry through the piece. The quilt then passed through 7 of us as we added borders of 1) triangles, 2) curves, 3) squares, 4) 2" border, 5) applique 6) embellish a previous row and 7) anything goes. On this particular quilt, I was the last to work on it and I had the "anything goes" round. The part I did is the outer edge beyond the yellow and green scalloped border. My part consists of the purple corner wedges, the 4 side triangles, the yellow piping and the red background. In a bit of serendipity, the four side triangle seem to work with the previous rows to form a sort of cross that seems to weave in and out of the piece.

Below is a closeup of Janice's wonderful machine quilting. She is quite talented. I love how the quilted wreath encompasses the yellow points on her perfect feathered star.

I just had to share (with Janice's permission) this gorgeous quilt. It was as much a joy to work on as it is to see it completed. Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful, Janice! Kudos!

Truly.....is there anything you're not fantastically good at?

This is such a beautiful quilt, even before we realize that it was a round robin!

The first of many spectacular quilts from this round robin, in my NSHO! Each of these quilts is so unique, and Janice's machine quilting rally enhances the design.

I would love to see more of the quilts this group did. The regular dyehard group is doing a nesting robin this year with monthly assigned color harmonies as well as techniques so this quilt was great inspiration.
